The Huntington Police Department traces its history to 1872 with the appointment of Isaac H. Mitchell as Town Marshal of the city. Today the Huntington Police Department is a proud agency consisting of a budgeted strength of 106 sworn officers and supported by a professional staff of 11 civilians. The mission of the Huntington Police Department is to provide the highest level of professional police services while preventing crime through problem-solving partnerships.
