On Friday May 24th the City of Huntington's request to issue "On the Spot Citations" for certain Code Enforcement violations was unanimously approved by the Municipal Home Rule Board. Starting July 1st, 2013 the City will take a zero tolerance policy toward violations such as high weeds and junk storage.
If a violation is corrected between the time the citation is issued and the scheduled court date, the municipal judge will dismiss the ticket. However, if the violation is not corrected, the judge will assess fines of $100 for the first offense, $200 for the second offense, $300 for the third offense, and $500 for each ensuing violation within a 12-month period.
The links below describe how the new "On-the-Spot Citations" will work, the types of violations our code enforcement officers will be investigating, and details on how to correct violations.
