Huntington Police Department - Huntington, WV

Neighborhood Institute

A driving force behind HPD's effective partnerships within communities has been through the establishment of the Neighborhood Institute. This organization consists of individual community leaders that are selected to represent each neighborhood association within the city.

This organization meets monthly with the Police Department, Constituent Services Liaison, representatives from Development and Planning, as well as other city leaders. Two members of City Council are appointed as representatives to the organization. Additionally, the Police Department meets monthly with each neighborhood association. These meetings address a wide range of issues or concerns, and this partnership between citizens/police decision-makers are included in developing a strategy to resolve the problem.
