Officer Ball was survived by his wife and eight children, and his mother; he is the brother-in-law of Patrolman Lon Castle of the Ashland, Kentucky, Police Department, shot and killed in the line of duty on May 9, 1925. He is buried in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington Cabell County, West Virginia.
