About the HPD

The Huntington Police Department traces its history to 1872 with the appointment of Isaac H. Mitchell as Town Marshal of the city. Today the Huntington Police Department is a proud agency consisting of a budgeted strength of 108 sworn officers and supported by a professional staff of 3 civilians. The mission of the Huntington Police Department is to provide the highest level of professional police services while preventing crime through problem-solving partnerships.
The ability to achieve our mission is predicated on the recruitment and retention of the most highly regarded and qualified individuals.
